It was a day charged with emotion and unyielding support as Crawley Rugby Football Club faced formidable opponents in both the Senior Shield and Junior Salver Finals this past weekend. Despite not claiming the titles, the spirit and courage displayed by our teams were the true trophies won on the day.

The journey began early, with players and officials boarding a coach from Crawley to the coastal town of Worthing, where anticipation and team spirit filled the air. The destination was the esteemed Worthing RFC, a venue buzzing with the excitement of hundreds of travelling Crawley fans ready to stand behind their teams.

The Junior Salver Final, saw our 2nd XV facing off against Holbrook. It was a close match, with the lead changing hands multiple times. Ultimately, Holbrook clinched the win with a 29-24 score. Our players left everything on the field, backed by vocal support from the stands, illustrating the passion and commitment that runs deep in our club's veins.
Following shortly after, The Senior Shield Final was equally thrilling. Our 1st XV took the Worthing Azurians. From the outset, the game was a spectacle of rugby prowess, with both sides displaying great skill and determination. The Azurians proved a tough competition and managed to secure a 39-20 victory. Despite the scoreline, our team showed exceptional character and resilience, battling to the very end amidst the roaring support of the Crawley contingent.

As the day concluded, the atmosphere among the fans and players was one of pride and fellowship. The results may not have been in our favour, but the overwhelming support from the hundreds of fans who made the journey illustrated the strength and unity of the Crawley rugby family. We are more than a club; we are a community bound by our love for the game and for each other.

As we reflect on the finals, we are reminded of the power of community and the importance of supporting one another in victory and defeat. Let us carry the lessons learned and the spirit witnessed into the forthcoming seasons. Here’s to growing stronger together and looking forward with anticipation to our next challenge.

Together, we are stronger. Together, we are Crawley.
