Crawley RFC u14's v Guernsey RFC u14's
tight game sees Crawley hold on
Crawley RFC u14's played host to Guernsey RFC, this Sunday both teams coming on the back of some strong victories of late. With the ko delayed due to flights , but the weather staying clear, it was Crawley who opened the scoring with David Marfe , making a trademark run and Callum Blakesley narrowly missing the conversion. From the restart Crawleys Taylor Putland gathered the ball and set the pitch alight running half the length before offloading to Blakesley to run in under the posts , and adding the two. Guernsey had not travelled this far to only make up the numbers and started moving the ball across the pitch , slowly opening Crawleys defence, before finally crossing the whitewash and adding the conversion. Guernsey now had momentum and ran in two more converted tries before half time and leading into the break 12 21.
After break Crawley began rejuvenated, both teams equally matched but it was staring running and support all round that led to Putland adding his name to the scoresheet , Blakesley converting. Guernsey hit straight back and restored their advantage , and again the two sides battled for territory. Blakesley struck next for Crawley , putting them within losing point distance, but that wasn't enough, sustained possession finally saw Alistair Medhurst stretch for the line and the lead five minutes from time and Blakesley again adding the two. A tense finale saw Crawley just hold on for a well earned win .
