Another fantastic week for the U9 boys from Crawley in a triangular match hosted at Burgess Hill RFC. Right from the start the Crawley side came out where they left off last week with some crunching defensive tackles and a tremendous amount of teamwork all round. Within minutes Reigate just couldn't cope with the pace of wing back Jack Ingham who flew down the touchline, from his own half, to put Crawley into a well deserved lead. Then it was the turn of the Crawley forwards who were clearly giving up no prisoners today! A powerful run from Sebastian Brogan saw him slip through a number of challenges to cross over for another score for Crawley but Reigate soon got back into the game with a try of their own after some sloppy defending by the away team. The second half though saw the Crawley forwards dominate up front with Sebastian Brogan crossing over the line, not once, but twice in quick succession to record his hat-trick of tries for the game and put the Crawley side into a dominant position once again. However, yet again, Crawley dozed off at the back defensively and Reigate gave them a scare with a well worked try down the right wing. This was the wake- up call the Crawley boys needed, who now produced their best rugby of the game! A great break by Ryan Holloway produced quick ball that was fed down the entire line of the Crawley team ending with a mouth watering try for ‘Man of the Match’ Jayden Friend! A fitting end for the match yet again for the faithful travelling supporters who are watching this young Crawley team starting to deliver on what they’re capable of at last!
