Well on a lovely sunny Sunday morning in Crawley the under 12s Crawley blues were hosting Burgess Hill.
The friendly bunch from Burgess Hill kindly lent us a couple of players so we could kick things off with a full team lead by our experienced captain Freddy.
Burgess Hill started strong scoring their first try within the first few minutes and continued to score a further 2 in the first half. However Crawley stood firm and even though we have quite a few new players their determination held them back from many more attempts.
In his first match Tommy finally broke through the defense storming down the wing to score his first try unfortunately falling foul to the pesky touch line so it was disallowed but a brilliant attempt none the less!
Oscar & Asa also in their first match played with grit determination putting all their recent training into practice.
Ethan and Taylor helped to hold the opposition back with fantastic rucking & tackling, Ollie & Enzo swiftly made sure they covered any advances on the wing with Ollie putting countless players into touch!.
The Second half Crawley kept their heads up, dug deep and prevented Burgess hill from scoring any further tries.
There were advances from Oscar, Fran and Leon in the second half and finally in the dying few minutes Crawley managed to score their first and only try, final score 15-5.
Although the blues were not triumphant it was a pleasure to watch an equally fought match with exciting prospects expected in the future with this development team. The parents and coaches were very proud of every player and even the opposition were complimentary of the squad, their captain finishing on the day with saying it was an honour to wear our shirt for the game!!
Well done Crawley under 12s blues
