Following the successful session with HHRFC on the 26th February, we were asked if we would like to join them as a BaBaa’s team and play Horsham RFC in a competitive fixture.
We agreed this would be a massive step, considering the fact Horsham Girls are an experienced and established Sussex Club of many years and HHRFC had been together for just over 2 years.
Well, we took a giant step Sunday 5th March, and joined HHRFC in playing Horsham RFC, the game took place on their 1st team pitch, with kick off at 10am. What an absolute dream, the girls from both Crawley and HHRFC were awesome, they all played their hearts out, competitive in the rucks, scrums, line-outs and all-round play. Although the game was lost, the girls showed tenacity and great awareness throughout, stringing some good phases of play, as well as ball through hands.
To say that they have come a long way in such a short time in an understatement. We can all be very proud of our girls’ team on what they have achieved to date.
Crawley and HHRFC players and coaches’ players of the match were “Daisy Harden (Crawley and Codi (HHRFC), there were many exceptional performances throughout the team, some great back play with ball through hands and defence cutting runs from Evie and Megan, as well as some tough defensive forward play from Naomi, Daisy and Ann T. Little Brooke came on at 9 and straight away showed her skill and understanding when she sat the opposition 9 on the floor when dummying her pass to the fly half. Additional callouts to the all the team including Masie, Shania what a great first performance.
If you know of any girls wanting to join the team then please, please point them in our direction.
Thanks in advance for all your support.
Regards
Nick
